Gas and LNG come out from oil’s shadow, part 1: The early years
In the – not so long ago – old days an oil prospector came home and said he had good news and bad news. The bad news was that he found no oil. the good news was that he found no Natural Gas either. Gas is hard to handle. Oil can be poured into a tank where it sits idly until it is used for whatever. It can be broken up into products and those products can mostly be put into tanks again. Being an energy-dense liquid it’s too good to be true. Gas is bulky and must be contained in an airtight vessel. Harder to store and transport – but so much cleaner than anything oil gives us.
