Gas is part of the solution in the planet’s energy transition, Goldman Sachs strategist says
Renewables make absolutely no sense at absolutely no level – as long as they need the fossil backup – or other. The problem is that once you have a fossil standby plant in order to make sure that lights don’t go out you got the cost stack of the renewables plus the cost stack of the fossil solution on top. So, gas is not part of the solution for the transition as there is not transition. Gas is the solution – full stop. Clean, efficient, available, technologically mature, affordable – everything renewables are not.
Gas has an important role to play in the global energy transition, according to the head of EMEA natural resources research at Goldman Sachs.
