German liquefied natural gas capacity may not be fully utilised

RWE has been in the LNG business for quite a while. They should know that LNG terminals are almost never fully utilized, especially if they are not delivered with long-term LNG. Most of the LNG coming Germany’s way has been organized as some sort of last-ditch emergency measure and hence Germany dances to the tune of the spot market. That is costly and thats inefficient but thats also the price for not working and thinking long-term. German decision-makers are afraid to sign long-term offtake agreements for new volumes of LNG hence not making any new projects possible. This will also make sure that their LNG supply remains fluttery. Everything has a price – how comes the RWE CEO does not know that? Or does he?
