German transport minister backtracks on mandatory hardware upgrades in “dieselgate” scandal again: report
It is disheartening to see how one of the leading economies of the planet muddles through on this. How shall people ever trust in the rule of law if the law is not upheld by those elected to do so? If Germany does not like the rules, it may change them and deal with the backlash. Failure to do so means that there are rules but its OK to flaunt them. This message has come so very often that we must not be surprised when people lose faith in the political order. If you stand for nothing, you will fall for anything.
German Transport Minister Andreas Scheuer (CSU) has backtracked on proposals for mandatory hardware upgrades in the “dieselgate” scandal again after recently signalling his belated approval for such measures, the magazine “SPIEGEL” reported on Friday.
