Germany not interested in joint EU gas purchases
Those most interested in joint purchases also have some of the worst gas storage situations. It’s also their geology but they have also not invested in creating the necessary buffers to be safe when mayhem hits. And yes, even if your underground is not very conducive to large volume gas storage, LNG still does that for you. Japan is the best proof. They have absolutely no underground storage and still, they are pretty well in this madness. Italy, Spain, and Greece don’t only want the rest of Europe to pay down their debt. They also want Europe to pay for their storage it seems.
