Germany offered US ‘dirty deal’ to drop Nord Stream 2 sanctions
Germans do not understand how the US works. This motion against North Stream 2 is not so much of Trump’s making. It originated in Congress and it’s Congress that drives it. Trump just walked along. Of course, every president’s team tries to work with Congress but their possibilities are limited. If Germany wants North Stream 2, it should just go along and build it. If sanctions come they will have to be dealt with. There is a time for showing balls in politics and not some wimpy letters. I like more LNG terminals but the market should carry them.
