Germany wants to stop fighting U.S. over natural-gas supplies
Germany is Europes biggest economy. France is smaller and has 3 modern terminals. The UK is smaller and has 3 terminals with more than 50 bcm capacity combined. Germany needs more than 2 terminals if it is to be serious on LNG. And considering that they dream about finally eliminating coal, that they have kicked nuclear and that they want ever more unreliable renewable energy, they will need loads of gas. Way more than NS2 can provide.
Germany’s economy minister said Tuesday he’s confident the country will soon have two terminals capable of receiving shipments of U.S. liquefied natural gas, something Washington has been pressing for in its bid to increase exports to Europe.
