Government plans to scrap green energy levies welcomed

Yes, but for that to work not only direct subsidies must be scrapped. Also, the myriad rules and regulations that tilt the playing field must be removed. First of all the indirect subsidy of preferential grid access and hence free balancing services for their intermittency. Wind and solar should pay for the grid problems they cause. This together with the removal of subsidies will effectively kill pretty much all wind and solar projects. How does the government justify its climate commitments then? Or will they scrap Paris too while they are at it and return to fact-based energy policies?
