Well, for a start the reefs have already survived the Medieval Warm Period and a bit more than 10 other such warm periods since the end of the last ice age. Pretty much all of those were hotter than anything we have seen so far. I am not even talking about reefs that have been around since before the dinosaurs and have survived multiple mass extinction events. There was a time when there was a tropical forest at the South Pole. Those reefs lived through those millions of years of exceptional warmth as well. This is ridiculous.
