Greek official accuses EU of policy failure on migration as war and climate change fuel displacement

I lived in Syria for almost 5 years. That was in the early 90ies. Long before the current disaster that has befallen the country. It was also before digital photos so we used old-fashioned cameras and had to bring the film rolls for development to a special shop. The one we usually used in Damascus were two Syrian brothers who had lived in Germany for many years so communication was easy. One day I asked one of them why he did not stay in Germany and he told me that he is an old Syrian and it’s Syria where he feels at home. I got it. He also told me that there will always be those who emigrate. Most of them are raiders. They come for the loot. And they will go with any excuse that works for them.
