Gulf of Mexico Sees Piracy Increase

That’s on the doorstep of the US so I expect the USCG and the Navy to take care of this rather swiftly. Way more concerning is the increased insecurity on the open seas in other parts of the ocean world that are far from the shores of the sole superpower. The US alone has taken care of freedom of navigation in pretty much the entire world’s oceans but now they are done. Parts of the oceans will go back to become the ponds of some regional power or even utterly lawless zones. How do you think that will work out for globalism? And how will the one country that utterly depends on exports deal with that?

The Gulf of Mexico saw an increase in piracy incidents in 2022 compared to 2021, according to Dryad Global Analyst Andrea Peniche Cobo.
