Early in the Eighties, there were two major green political parties in Austria. One with a slight conservative spin, the other one unashamedly extreme left. In 1996 both parties merged and formed the Greens which has represented all green fractions ever since. It goes without saying that anything realistic about the Greens has gone out the window a long time ago. The realists in the party base have all left. What was once an organization with the objective of helping the environment (there were real issues to be tackled) has become a pure virtue-signaling organization that only pushes crazy and insane.
