Some of the largest wind-parks here in Austria are in the East. The province of Burgenland is specially covered with those contraptions. A friend of mine has tow homes. One here in Vienna and one in the middle of wind country. He is an outgoing pensioner who has no problem chatting with work crews and so he asked quite a number of them. So he asked how maintenance hungry windmills are. They said that they are permanently moving as they constantly break down. They called them maintenance hogs but they also did not complain as this created quite some jobs. So much for free wind energy.
