If wishes were horses, we’d all get ponies for Christmas: Geothermal Edition

Some regions or countries are just in luck as they are able to use energy or other resources that exist in just a very few places on earth. Iceland has a case for Geothermal just as Austria has great potential for hydropower. Again, those places are rare. We don’t need solutions for rare places. We need solutions for countries, states, and regions that have none of the nice advantages. The vast majority of people live in disadvantaged places. They need solutions that allow them to thrive economically and if that would be geothermal, there would be such plants just about anywhere. If it needs subsidies forever, it should not make the list.

“[I]f the Texas drilling industry drilled as many geothermal wells as it currently does oil and gas… the state could run itself off geothermal power by 2027.” If wishes were horse…

I was introduced to and met Rudi in Angola when he started to develop his Sub Saharan Africa network.
