Implications of the Moss Battery Plant Fire

Anyone who has experienced his mobile phone battery having a runaway fire event will be very careful with those devices in the future. Those fires are bad. And there is little we can do to predict or prevent them. But a mobile phone battery is very small, tiny almost. Your typical Electric vehicle holds the equivalent of thousands of phone batteries with a much bigger fire once one bursts into flames. As they do all the time. Now imagine an electric truck battery. Tons of lithium burning away in a massive conflagration. Imagine you are trapped with one of those burning trucks in a tunnel. Will you survive even if you are not close?

A similar fire there would require at least a shelter in place order and possibly an evacuation order for nearly a million people to say nothing about shutting down highways and the East River. The…
