We like to convince ourselves that stupid policies will create horrific consequences which in turn will translate into everyday pain for the population aka the voters. And this will translate at the voting booth kicking out stupid policies. Reality however is far more stubborn than this. When WW2 ended, there were parks full of middle-aged women on park benches that had committed suicide. They had lived through the horrors of a multi-year war and I am sure they had suffered quite a bit but the thought of a world without the Nazis was just so atrocious to them that they preferred to off themselves. This is not over.

I was introduced to and met Rudi in Angola when he started to develop his Sub Saharan Africa network. At the time he worked for EconGas/OMV and he tried organizing longterm LNG supply for them under the unlikeliest of all circumstances.
