Inconvenient Truth: Climate-related death risk down 99.6% over 100 years
Oh, thats so uncomfortable. A large part of that is certainly due to better living conditions, more wealth, and better technology to cope with whatever the climate throws at us. That being said, if one takes an honest look at disaster statistics, one would quickly see that negative weather events are neither more frequent nor are they more destructive. It’s the real estate values of areas hit by those events that have risen sky-high which in turn makes damage figures go up ´. It does not mean that storms and the like are more destructive. But there will be more damage if a storm hits a city rather than a sparsely inhabited island. Time to get real.
