Iran, Saudi Arabia, UEA and other invited to join BRICS group

I only had mild smiles for all those trying to convince me how important the BRICS group was in the past. But now I erupted in outright laughter. This is hard to beat in terms of substance-less posturing. The group of five already had one thing in common – namely that they had extremely opposed interests and this is also the reason why they can’t get anything other than lofty announcements done. With the addition of those six, this gets cemented in. Getting anything to a consensus in this grouping must be way harder than herding cats. I am not even getting started to talk about the extreme economic woes some of the members are in. I jest you not.

I was introduced to and met Rudi in Angola when he started to develop his Sub Saharan Africa network. At the time he worked for EconGas/OMV and he tried organizing longterm LNG supply for them under the unlikeliest of all circumstances.
