Islamic State attacks turn Mozambique’s LNG boom into a bust
Most people have no idea about the dimensions in play. Mozambique’s capital Maputo is about as far away from the project area as London is from Gibraltar. The cultural divide is even bigger. The south is dominated by a Portuguese background and rather laid back while the north is much more Swahili-like. Those people are much closer to their kin in Tanzania. Maputo won’t resolve this easily. I did not hold my breath for Mozambiquian LNG before COVID.
