Alarmists had an easy run for two decades – so far. The reason was not that a majority of the population would be on board with their unrealistic and crazy ideas. The true reason was that most people are neither in the alarmist nor the realist camp. Most people are politically apathetic. They are in the silent majority and they don’t care enough about those things to get involved at any level. So fringe extremist groups duke it out and the winner dominates the ether for a while. But they never really have a majority honestly agreeing with what they want so when this majority wakes up to what’s up, they are doomed. Mann understands this and is rightfully afraid of people seeing reality for what it is.

I was introduced to and met Rudi in Angola when he started to develop his Sub Saharan Africa network. At the time he worked for EconGas/OMV and he tried organizing longterm LNG supply for them under the unlikeliest of all circumstances.
