Shale has partly thrived on a massive bubble and this one had to be pricked at some point. I am happy it finally deflated as it had to. Thats sad for the workers as they are first to suffer and there will be many who won’t come back when oil goes up again. The loss of talent is significant and to be lamented. But when conditions are right and the money flows again, many will come back and automation will take the edge off this problem.
