Ah yes, when I was a kid there was a joke that one day they will tax the air we breathe. We all laughed at the time but we are there now. Breathing costs you, costs anyone. Don’t ever underestimate a politician’s proclivity for spending more of your money. Don’t expect them to step back from the brink. When life is so sweet, it’s hard to give up on the good times. Nobody cares if the general population falls on a hard time for it. But there is resistance. Look at Italy. There will be more of that.

According to The Guardian, poor countries will demand a global carbon tax this week on airline travel, shipping fuel and fossil fuel extraction.
