Letter from Africa: Upstream opportunities abound as majors step back
Africa has a lot of easy oil and gas still to be explored, developed, produced, and sold. Especially the Gulf of Guinea is a region that produces a to of light sweet stuff. The oil and the gas are not challenging neither as a product to process nor to produce. Africa’s challenge is its business and regulative environment. Countries are not only hard on the crews but oil is often their most important source of revenue which fuels unimaginable corruption. The Majors move away from those challenges. High tech fields are easier on them those days.
