LNG Will Not Replace Coal in China: IEEFA

LNG cannot replace coal in China, India, or other Asian countries. Asia is a rather poor territory for gas storage as the geology is challenging. So LNG would have to be stored cryogenically which is economically impossible. Coal can be heaped up and is hence very simple to store. LNG can play balancing energy in Europe because Europe has extensive and deep underground depleted field gas storage. But China cannot do that and likely never can. Coal is here to stay unless they replace everything with nuclear.
