Massive Desert Solar Projects Are Sucking Up Groundwater, Angering Locals

So locals might be less than enthused with those massive solar parks. How long until they find out that those panels can pretty easily be smashed up? Or how to protect transmission cables from those with ill intent? Why would we ask locals in desert countries to deal with the eyesores and environmental disasters we don’t want to have in our backyard? Out of sight is out of mind I guess. And those poorer than us can be bought. But morals aside, the economics don’t add up. Because the desert is not interplanetary space. They still have weather, most notably dust and wind. Plus all this electricity still needs to be transmitted and stored.
