Mauritania working to promote 28 offshore blocks open for bids
Aside from US shale oil and gas, this part of the world holds the biggest promise for new conventional oil and gas. We tend to forget how incredibly big Africas is. It’s just slightly smaller than Asia, the biggest continent, and dwarfs all others easily. It’s also massively underexplored mostly for political reasons. If Europe wants to get away from Russian oil and gas, it might want to look at Africa. That said, this is a long-term venture by its very nature and will also require developers that understand Africa. That won’t be easy.
