Measuring Censorship in Science Is Challenging. Stopping it Is Harder Still

We cannot stop censorship of anything – no matter what side of the Rubicon you happen to find yourself and no matter what topic is on the plate. Most people – and I really mean way more than 95% of all people – get all their information from the silo they want to be in. Yes, that’s right. Most of us have built our silos. Peeking beyond the edge of your silo requires quite some effort but it can be done. Just very few people ever go there and there is very little if anything at all that anyone can do about it. Most people would rather die than question their beliefs. Many do. You can only change your little niche. Accept it.

We must also convince scientists to use those freedoms to follow the truth wherever it leads and to tell the truth even when doing so seems to conflict with other priorities.

I was introduced to and met Rudi in Angola when he started to develop his Sub Saharan Africa network.
