Mexico begins receiving LNG as gas supply via pipeline rises
Theoretically, Mexico would be in a great position for US gas imports as many of the producing regions are so close. That being said, building new pipelines in the US might be a bit of a challenge in the future and the most important consumption centers are not exactly at the US border. Many believe that pipelines are always cheaper than the LNG option but that is not true. Its a function of distance and conditions. In Mexico’s case, new LNG import terminals would also be great supply diversification, and thats always good for the market.
