Mexico ‘Cannot Rely Exclusively on U.S. Gas’ for LNG Exports, Warns Jaguar CEO

Some of the most prolific shales are straddling the US-Mexican border. This means there is no good geological reason why Mexico should not be able to pull off the same energy bounty. But there is a vital difference between the US – and the rest of the world even. In the US, there is no national oil and gas player. It’s private companies that do what they need to do and they are essentially not beholden to politics So they do what makes sense. Plus, real estate owners in most US states also own what’s under their soil. So they have an incentive to cooperate when money is to be made. That’s going to be a big reform if Mexico is serious about it.
