Mines, Minerals, and “Green” Energy: A Reality Check
When we import stuff, we import appalling environmental standards and horrible labor conditions. There is a reason why other countries can do this cheaper – they simply don’t apply the same amount of protection on everything as more developed countries do. This lower or lack of protections leads to much lower prices and hence a competitive advantage. But it relocates environmental and societal destruction. Green advocates like their iPhones and their Teslas – what do you think they would cost when produced under standards that enable us the have a clean conscience? Not knowing the price something costs for real has led us to the path we are onto now. Many believe that their Disneyland lifestyles will just go on the way they are used to when they break the industrial economy to pieces. But it won’t. Time to introduce a Border Adjustment Tax to remove the veil of death.
