More Focus On The Impossible Costs Of A Fully Wind/Solar/Battery Energy System
Just take countries that have already now a relatively high proportion of renewable energy in their system. Germany only does not collapse because it buys nuclear, coal, and hydropower at high cost from abroad when it needs it and also uses the European electricity market as a dumping ground when wind and solar produce more electricity than it can possibly use. It’s camouflaged by a series of accounting tricks but as they all do, those tricks will eventually blow up. And we are talking about a country that still has far to go in terms of decarbonization. We need a new definition for the word sustainable.
