National Grid Hails New Interconnector Bringing Coal Power From France!
A large part of Europe just scaped by a massive blackout event a couple of days ago. Regulators were quick to point fingers at Romania. Sounds like a cheap excuse to me but even if Romania was really responsible for the near-fiasco, it’s those tightly connected networks that make a local event a continental one. Flickery renewable electricity has pushed very large electricity consumers like Germany or the UK to play the export-import game. Export when you have too much, import when you need. Not only is this very expensive but it also gravely endangers the network safety of the old world. get used to real backouts.
