New Gas Finds Creating Opportunity in West Africa
Nice, nice, nice again. I always liked Africa and I love seeing projects coming up from this part of the world. There is just one thing that worries me. Has anyone cared to look at the LNG spot price those last weeks? Or months? At this level, it’s hard to get FID’s going. There is one of two things one can do out of this dilemma. Either you get a market that pays better and has little choice than to take it from you or you get costs down. And I think getting costs down is the easier road now. But wait – why not doing both. Africa is a potential market of its own but it needs very different structures than more developed countries have. Small receiving terminals, smaller flat water ships, small scale distribution of LNG on water and on land. It’s all here. get your costs down and supply the market at your doorstep.
