New U.S. Sanctions For Nord Stream 2? What’s At Stake.
I have long argued that NS2 would be a good thing for LNG in Europe as it provides balancing gas allowing North-Western Europe to play its role of flexibility giver to the LNG market. But I also always questioned the economics of the project and as of now, its only a political game. All those sanctions, all those new rules, all those delays inflate costs and the economics were not good to begin with. I have already won a wager where I said that NS2 won’t be operations before Jan 1st, 2020. I have a feeling that I will also win my second wager – that it will never have more than 365 days of operation to its name.
