In Austria, we have a saying: “Lies have short legs”. Wind energy is by its very nature intermittent. Placing rotators out into the water only makes them disappear behind the horizon for the normal population. But wind is about as erratic offshore as it is onshore. And those things are built for certain windspeeds only. Put it where you want, you need the fossil fuel backup. Or the lights go out. And as long as the cost for the backup is not factored into the cost for renewables it’s massively subsidized. Contrary to all claims to the opposite.
