The vast majority of the population of any country wants to go on with their lives. They don’t share the sometimes pretty extreme views of their leaders but they don’t go as far as kicking them out as long as they consider it vaporware. This changes when the consequences of the decisions of those same leaders become apparent every second of every day in their personal lives. Then, the silent majority acts, and thats when you have landslides. Elites don’t understand this – they believe fringe views are mainstream.
