Such fleet conversion towards LNG and CNG would make sense for any country that produces more Natural Gas than it can consume especially if it imports oil at the same time. LNG LNG is much cleaner helping the environment and the oil imports are much more expensive than LNG could possibly be. And if you don’t import oil, you could export more oil if you used NGV’s with your own gas. Win-win.
