North Sea tax credits are not subsidies

Anyone with half a brain should be able to see it. It’s in the name. A tax credit means that you still pay taxes, just a little less. You are still taking a big stash of money that belongs to you before paying tax and handing it over to the authorities. To me, modern taxation is no more than the highwaymen of old. But let’s not cut into that stinking pie right now. Subsidies such as those the renewable folks get means hand in cash received from the authorities. See how that goes? Those drilling in the North Sea still contribute to the public budget. Those on the renewable side are only taking money out. Money that is not here to keep social peace anymore.
