Obituary: Great Barrier Reef (25 Million BC-…)
Coral bleaching is not coral dead. When corals are exposed to warmer than usual water, they release the colored algae on which they feed. This bleaches them. Most of the bleached corals recover once they are exposed to cooler water again. Coral bleaching has also not started with human activity but is a normal process. Scuba divers going there say that there are pockets that are problematic but the overall the reef is just fine. Who do we believe? A doomsday cult that tells the world it will die for decades while the world is doing fine all this time or the scuba divers that go there every day?
The Great Barrier Reef of Australia passed away in … after a long illness. It was 25 million years old.
