Oil industry’s future may rest on climate debate over natural gas

Natural Gas does not make carbon unavoidable. Post-Medieval times living makes carbon unavoidable. Even life itself makes carbon unavoidable. Avoid carbon and you die. Avoid fossil fuels and we will have to revert to Medieval-style living for 90% of the world’s population and I doubt the world can take 8 billion on that level. A life without carbon means a life without concrete, without any kind of metallurgy, without plastics, without modern electronics, without modern foods, without any post-1700 amenity. Life without carbon is not life – its death.
