Operail completes and tests Baltics’ first LNG-fueled freight locomotive

LNG is an outstanding replacement for any diesel-powered rail but it goes much further than that. A typical LNG railcar holds around 100m3 of LNG as opposed to 45 for a truck trailer. And a block train can have 16-20 of those making each of those trains a massive gas boost for a city with a strong morning peak. Rolling storage – now we need to work on public relations. Because people consider LNG trailers as rolling bombs. It’s not true at all but that’s what false perceptions do.
