Owning a car is outdated ’20th-century thinking’ and we must move to ‘shared mobility’ to cut carbon emissions, transport minister says
I live in the center of the capital of Austria. Vienna is a fairly large urban agglomeration with about 2 million inhabitants. Skipping the car in my situation is quite OK. In fact, I went without a car for much of my life. People at the fringes of Vienna have it much harder, those in the Suburbs harder still and those in the substantially greater Vienna area will find it impossible. And we are not even talking about the many people living in the sticks as my parents do. No car means total isolation for them and shared transport is not even a buzzword for them. Good luck.
