PM Overrules Energy Regulator
My own country Austria imports most of its Natural Gas from Russia. It always had a privileged position as the first western country to do so. More than half a century of gas imports come to an end. And we need that gas. But Austria was and is a gas producer, albeit a small one. If we developed our shale gas resources in Austrias east we could probably replace what we are losing and who knows, make a buck by exporting. Combined with our excellent hydropower position, this would set us up nicely for the next 50 years at least.
