Those targets have always been cosmetic. The leadership needs to show its people and the international community that they are serious about doing something – whatever. So grandiose plans are presented – virtue signaling. And then those goals go where they always belonged – to the dust. It’s a huge damn cheat, and we lap it up like ice cream on a hot summer day.
