Post-Pandemic, a Sustained, Essential Recovery Will Depend on Energy
The US has a number of opportunities right now. It could develop an entirely new market for the LNG it cannot export profitably right now. Pushing LNG as a transport fuel for heavy rigs in the US would be relatively simple as there is already a pretty well-developed backbone fuelling station network. LNG supplies would have to be used from the big terminals but this only means building truck- and rail loading stations. A side benefit would be that US air would clean up even more. And LNG producers won’t have to worry about export market tensions anymore. And also that oil consumption would be reduced which leaves more oil and oil products for export.
