As long as people did not feel the effects of wind and solar through blackouts, there was not much of a problem. Even if one explained to them that this is going to be a problem down the line and will cost an arm and a leg, they did not listen. Only when the damage is done, when people suffer real-world consequences and cannot pay for the power they need anymore, then they start to ask real questions. Some politicians start to see the disaster that brews on the horizon. And they change tack. But most still double down – they will claim to have been duped and will be the most ferocious opponents of wind and solar – in time.
