President Ramaphosa urged to establish a new Climate Change portfolio
Sure, South Africa is beset by rampant blackouts and rolling brownouts, peoples food spoils in the fridge as there is no power and the country goes down the drain, not least because of the excruciating power situation and the first thing that they should do is throw scarce money after renewable projects that will make the power situation even worse as wind and solar need plenty of conventional power for backup. That sounds like a great idea for a country that’s on its knees. They could probably write the book “How to destroy a country that once was the best economy in Africa?”
The Centre for Environmental Rights (CER) has written a letter to President Cyril Ramaphosa urging him to appoint individuals who will be passionate in addressing the global threat of climate change.
