Putin pushes idea of Russian gas supplies to China via Mongolia
How sweet, Russian Blackmail. OK, let’s take a look at the map. Russia is a big country. Power of Siberia operates on a black zero with a lot of luck. There are rumors that Russia secretly subsidizes the sale of this gas to China to show the rest of the world that it has options. Now, most of the gas for the POS pipeline comes from Eastern Siberia, that huge place north of Mongolia. Its thousands of miles of wasteland before China can use the gas. No wonder it’s expensive. Now, look at Yamal, still further to the North West. That’s another huge stretch of thousands of miles. The shorter pipeline produced a deal thats awful for Russia. The longer one would be pure hell. Russia sells us for fools if they want us to take this gambit seriously.
