The USGS lists 1350 potentially active volcanoes of which 500 have been active in historical times. Some volcanic eruptions are big one-off events but some like the Iceland volcano or the one on the Canary islands erupt over months. Some of those eruptions are big enough to liberate entire months or sometimes even years’ worth of global CO2 emissions in one go. If we really believe that CO2 kills us we really must find a way how to stop those volcanoes. Maybe Extinction Rebellion could lead the way? Greta? Anyone …?
