Russia-China gas pipeline deal stalls over Beijing’s price demands

Europe was a gas customer made in heaven for Russia. And it was so for many reasons besides the price demands of China. Gas to Europe could largely be transported on a deprecated pipeline system, the fields are much closer to Europe than to China, and European customers were not organized so it was easy to trick them. Giving up the European market for China is exchanging heaven for hell. But I guess Putin did not believe it would ever get this far. The Russian business model was slated to fail long before the war in Ukraine was a reality. Now things happen a lot faster.
